SYSTEM SECURITY

All transactions have an electronic signature. You are solely responsible for all transactions made through your Cougar Trail account. Unauthorized access to Cougar Trail on the Web or tampering with other students’ academic records is a violation of federal and state law, and will subject the offender to severe disciplinary action. Please report any suspected tampering to the Registrar’s Office immediately.

LOGGING IN
  • If you have never created a PIN on Cougar Trail, use your 6-digit birthdate (MMDDYY) to log in initially. You will be immediately prompted to change your PIN to a 6-digit number other than your birthdate. You will then be required to log back in with your new PIN.
  • If you already have a PIN on Cougar Trail, but it is your birthdate, use the birthdate to log in initially. You will be immediately prompted to change your PIN to a 6-digit number other than your birthdate. You will then be required to log back in with your new PIN. For security reasons Cougar Trail on the Web will NOT accept a student’s birthdate as his/her PIN.
  • If you already have a PIN on Cougar Trail and it is not your birthdate you may continue to use that PIN in Cougar Trail on the Web. You will not have to change this PIN.
  • Forgot your PIN? Students who need their PIN reset may e-mail the Graduate School Office at gradsch@cofc.edu. You must provide your SSN, birthdate and a list of your classes from the previous semester. Tell us what you want the PIN reset to — then don’t forget the new PIN. Students may also come by the Registrar’s Office and present a picture ID to have the PIN reset.
HELPFUL HINTS
  • Do not use the Back/Forward on the toolbar at the top left of the page — Use the links at the bottom of the page.
  • SID is Student ID Number (typically your social security number).
  • Do not use dashes or spaces when typing in your SID.
  • PIN is 6 digits — if you do not already have a PIN use your birthdate for the initial login (MMDDYY; no dashes, no spaces).
  • Do not double click within the Web — Single Click only — Double Clicking may cause your session to expire.
  • When there is a Submit button you should use it to process the contents of the page. Where there is a Select button you must use it to select a value. You cannot use double-click in these situations.
  • Use the arrows to the right, left, or the bottom of the screen to scroll and view the entire page when it does not fit your window.
  • If necessary, adjust your screen settings.
  • Cougar Trail sessions time out after 15 minutes of inactivity.
