SCEDS grads

Six more South Carolina professionals have completed the College of Charleston- sponsored South Carolina Economic Developers School (SCEDS). Established in 1991, SCEDS instructs professionals in the concepts and strategies involved in economic development and business-industry recruitment and expansion. To date, more than 400 South Carolina professionals have successfully completed the program. To graduate, participants must complete four sessions of instruction and training. The six latest graduates received their certificates on May 17 during a luncheon at the College of Charleston’s Tate Center for Entrepreneurship. Pictured, from left to right, are SCEDS co-director Dr. Michael Morgan, who is a C of C business professor; Brad Samuel from SCE&G/SCANA in Beaufort; Perrin Lawson from the Charleston Area Convention and Tourism Bureau (CVB); Thelma Miller from the Oconee County Economic Development Commission; Retha Brown from the Lake City Development Corporation; Flowe Trexler from the Barnwell County Council; Louie Chambers from the Fountain Inn City Council; and Dr. Perry Woodside, SCEDS co-director and a C of C business professor.
