College of Charleston Students Earn Writing Lab Certification October 7, 2002
Tamara Keith, a consultant for the College of Charleston Writing Lab has been awarded the second level of certification by the National College Reading and Learning Association. Keith is a junior at College of Charleston, majoring in biology. She is a graduate of Crestwood High School in Sumter, S.C. and is the daughter of William and Kathleen Keith of Dalzell. Dianne Turgeon, also a consultant for the College of Charleston Writing Lab has been awarded the second level of certification Turgeon is a senior at College of Charleston, majoring in geology. She is a graduate of Spring Valley High School in Columbia, S.C. and is the daughter of Connie Turgeon of Columbia. Both received additional training as a consultant in the Writing Lab, which included attendance at staff meetings and further study on the teaching of writing. Certification as a consultant requires 10 hours of training, including video taped instructive videos, and knowledge of tutoring basics. Contact:Virginia Friedman |
